Tetra Pak’s environment pillar package

While kids debate whether the juice in their lunchbox is named popper, juice box, prima, fruit box or Tetra juice, Tetra Pak is quietly greening their direction. Tetra Pak is a major packaging company that joined Climate Savers in 2005 to help it with its climate change strategy. The solution was a big focus on environmental activities towards energy efficiency, providing a new found bottom line relevance for the environment amongst its staff.

HP’s video conferencing studio set to ground work-related air travel

With the vast majority of WWF Climate Savers cases talking about energy efficiency, this example by Hewlett Packard illustrates the great results that can be achieved from reduced air travel. HP has reduced air travel by 43%, dropping CO2 emissions by 104,000 tons of CO2 equivalent between October 2007 and September 2009. Sagawa Express sees business sense in adapting to climate change

As a case writer for IMD Business School, I was asked to write two cases for the WWF Climate Savers to present at COP-15, who would use them to highlight how climate change strategies make business sense. Sagawa is taking a proudly long-term approach to climate change mitigation by moving its truck and vehicle fleet towards diesel powered to compressed natural gas. It is a great example for businesses looking to practically understand what it can do at the start of its climate change strategy.

In 2007, Fairmont Hotels closed the world famous luxury hotel and embarked on an ambitious program to diversify the energy sources and increase energy efficiency. Based on a case study by IMD Business School and WWF Climate Savers.

Johnson & Johnson uses capital relief funding to drop CO2 emissions

Johnson & Johnson, global leaders in consumer health care and pharmaceuticals, joined WWF Climate Savers way back in 1999. As one of the founding partners, Johnson & Johnson are a true leader in climate change strategies in the corporate world. This is about as good as it gets for corporate environmental management, as Johnson & Johnson hit its emissions reduction target 5 years early. It used a capital relief funding program for CO2 reduction, which enabled the start up of 80 climate change projects in just 5 years.

Copenhagen breathes efficiency

Copenhagen is a city obsessed with climate change. From before you even land at CPH, you can see a wind farm that provides 3% of the power to run the city. From the airport, to the metro, to the central Copenhagen public squares, to the Bella Center itself, home of the COP15, it is clear that this city is breathing efficiency.
