Three Wise Women

Three wise women have been meeting for the past 3 years to discuss the kind of deal we need to get in Copenhagen. The involvement of younger actors in the 3 different working groups did yield some real interest in our comments, and in some cases the inclusion of our interventions into the final communique. Great stuff.

Mary Robinson, former President of Ireland, in her opening address at the Road to Copenhagen 3 conference in Malmo, Sweden that began today. She talked about climate justice, gender issues, bringing developing countries into the talks, and the importance of these issues for the sake of our grandchildren. She is a great speaker!

“Concrete” ideas – but are they actionable?

There is a powerful expectation from the conference leaders to the delegates to provide concrete solutions and actionable points for people to pick up and implement. It is consensus that we need to break down high-level discussions into solutions. It appears that concise action points stop short of being actually practical solutions.
